What Is a Scleral Contact Lens?
Scleral lenses are larger-diameter specialty contact lenses designed to vault over the cornea and rest on the white portion of the eye, called the sclera.
Unlike a conventional contact lens that sits directly on the cornea, a properly fitted scleral lens creates a fluid-filled reservoir between the lens and the corneal surface.
